Shawnigan Ministry of Mercy Concert

On Monday night, Shawnigan was treated to a moving classical concert organized by grade 12 student, Ethan C. For the past six months, Ethan has been diligently arranging a musical program including pieces by Brahms, Bach, and Tchaikovsky to name just a few. The young concert violinist had two roles to fill for the evening, first as MC of the musical program introducing each act in his characteristic humble and genuine fashion while also stepping on stage to perform two passionate pieces himself including the evening's closing act. Other performers included fellow Shawnigan students, Greg P. and Alex C. (Ethan's equally musically talented brother), Shawnigan's Director of Music , Shannon Tyrrell, as well as several of Ethan's colleagues from the Victoria Conservatory of Music. The driving motivation behind the evening's entertainment was Ethan's wish to help support the Ministry of Mercy Orphanage in Nigeria. The money raised from ticket sales, concession donations and the wildly popular t-shirts brought in a worthy $2,200 to be contributed to a fund to help purchase a new truck for the Nigerian orphanage. Thank you Ethan and company for the brilliant, intimate evening of music!
